This service is perfect before a special event when you want to look your absolute best. It is also highly addictive and results last 4-6 weeks. Intrigued but want to learn more? Below are some commonly asked questions.
What is Dermaplaning?
When performed by a certified esthetician it is a safe and effective physical exfoliation procedure. A sterile, surgical scalpel is gently glided over the surface of your skin, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz).
What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?
Instant results with no downtime Removal of unwanted peach fuzz More even skin tone and texture Smoother, softer skin Diminishes the look of fine lines Reduces appearance of acne scars Provides deeper product penetration Makeup application is improved
Will my hair grow back in thicker? No, we promise vellus hair will not grow back in thicker. If it were possible to change the structure of the hair follicle by shaving then there would be a lot less bald men out there in the world.
What skin types benefit from Dermaplaning? All skin types can benefit from this procedure except those with cystic acne or active breakouts.
How should I prepare for Dermaplaning? How about after care? Discontinue use of Retin-A 5 days prior to treatment. We prep your skin with a solution specifically created for dermaplaning. Your skin is left loaded with hydration, calming and soothing products. We recommend avoiding exercise or excessive sweating for 24 hours afterward.
Couldn't I just shave my face at home, what's the difference? Both are going to remove the peach fuzz but Dermaplaning is a professional grade exfoliation treatment to remove the excess top layer of dirt, oil and dead skin cells. Your esthetician is going to be able to treat areas that a safety razor isn't going to reach. Women are always amazed at how great their skin looks and feels after their treatment.
Microdermabrasion vs. Dermaplaning? Both are physical forms of exfoliation to soften and smooth the skin and both are safe for pregnancy. The biggest difference is that dermaplaning has the added benefit of removing peach fuzz and is safe for sensitive skins. Microdermabrasion uses suction and a diamond tip wand or crystals to abrade the skin. This suction can cause capillary damage and is not recommended for thin or sensitive skins.
